What are Backwoods Cigars?

Backwoods cigars are 100% natural tobacco leaves. The leaf itself is machine rolled but made to seem like it is hand rolled. These cigars go through a more intensive processing step versus other brands such as Century Sams, Swisher Sweets and Phillies. In fact, they can take up to a year before being available for the consumer. They’re filled with tobacco and designed to be only unraveled by hand. They come in many different flavours such as sweet aromatic, honey berry, honey bourbon and even exotic ones such as vanilla, grape and banana!

Blunts, by their definition alone, are hollowed-out cigars that are filled with cannabis. The result of combining nicotine with THC are a deep headrush, a crazy buzz and a jolt of energy (at times). Depending on what is used to fill the blunt, you can expect to feel a headrush similar to smoking a cigar by itself but also with the influencing effects that cannabis has.

Disclaimer: No two cigars are exactly the same. That’s how you know what you’re getting is real.

Who should buy Backwoods Cigars?

Blunt lovers all over North America consider Backwoods as a luxury. They come in sealed foil packs of 5 cigars which can easily be unraveled. Even though they are easy to empty, they take a skillful blunt roller to be able to master how to roll one. Backwoods are iconic and many smokers (or tokers) enjoy a good Backwoods Blunt for its rich flavour, fragrant aroma and unique headrush.

Backwoods Blunts are loved and admired by the cannabis community not only for its flavour but for their versatility as well. Since you can unroll the Backwoods by hand instead of cutting down the middle like a traditional blunt, it’s much easier to unravel and empty, but rolling it can be very tricky at times. Practice and patience are two important traits you need to be able to roll a perfect backwoods.

Because Backwoods are natural tobacco leaves they tend to be more fragile than any typical cigar.

There will be times when a backwood is not in ideal shape, here are several ways to fix the following issues you may experience:

When it’s Dry: Using a damp paper towel, pat the dry leaf gently until it is malleable enough to fill and roll. AVOID and DO NOT dunk the backwoods into water, you can say goodbye to your backwoods.

Small holes: Often enough there will be small holes throughout the backwood. You can always navigate  away from the hole and roll the blunt in a way that the hole will be sealed off by another layer of the cigar. For larger holes, you have an option to either trim the hole off and have a smaller area to roll with or you can use the glue lip of a rolling paper to “doctor” the blunt so the hole is covered.

Tough stems: There are usually at least 2-3 stems in a single unraveled cigar. Since these are natural tobacco leaves, there will be times where you find a really big/dense stem. If the backwoods is malleable, place it on a flat surface and with a small cylinder like shape, such as a sharpie or a cup, simply roll it over the stem until it flattens out. Be gentle, you’re not rolling pizza dough now, going too hard will damage the cigar beyond repair.
